Tell us your idea and we grade it for free. From there you choose what happens next. Nothing is shared unless you say so.

  1. Step 1

    Get a free grade

    We look at four things: will people want it, can it be built, will it be easy to use, and how much work it takes. They roll up into one score from 0 to 100 and a letter grade.

  2. Step 2

    Build a $99 prototype

    If the grade looks good, we build a working prototype you can click through and show people. Pay full price and you get 14 days to change your mind.

  3. Step 3

    Share it, or don't

    Your idea is private by default. You can put it on the idea board so others can suggest ways to make it better, and switch it off any time.

  4. Step 4

    Grow it

    From there you can pay for it yourself, open it for crowd backing on Greenlight, enter a grant or contest, or hear offers from vetted investors.

What the letter grades mean

  • A (85 and up): strong on almost every count.
  • B (75 to 84): solid, with a thing or two to tighten.
  • C (60 to 74): promising, with real questions to answer.
  • D (50 to 59): needs work before it is worth building.
  • F (under 50): not ready yet. That is useful to know early.

Suggestions from the crowd

When your idea is on the idea board, signed-in visitors can suggest a change and say why. You decide. If you accept one, the person gets credit by name, points and badges. You can fold accepted changes back into your idea and ask for a fresh grade.

Grants and contests

Sometimes we or an Architect fund a free prototype or pressure test. A grant is picked by the people funding it. A contest goes to the top grades when time runs out. See what's open on the grants and contests page.

Good questions

Who owns my idea?
You do. Sharing it, taking suggestions, or getting backed does not change that. If you ask for a refund on a prototype, Develofi keeps the right to use the work it paid for.
Can people see my name or email?
No. The idea board shows the title, summary, grade and prototype. Your contact details stay private.
Some discount codes need a grade. Why?
Free and discounted spots go to the ideas most likely to succeed. Paying full price is never limited by grade.
What if my idea goes quiet?
We send a friendly check-in or two. If we don't hear back, it rests. The link stays alive and nothing is shared without your yes.
